Who are we?

Clean Up Trepnick was founded in 2020 to combat the persistent littering in our city. The focus is on our Berlin district of Treptow-Köpenick (hence "Trepnick"). We are now an organizational network with 11 "neighborhood partners" who, equipped with their own equipment and serving as contact persons, organize litter collection events in their respective neighborhoods.

We, as organizers and facilitators, along with all the wonderful participants, are all local residents of all ages and backgrounds. We volunteer our time, help each other, and pitch in as time and resources allow. We now hold approximately 25 litter clean-ups per year, in addition to appearances at festivals, district events, and other collaborations, where we use games and fun to raise awareness.

Our largest annual cleanup event in April brings an average of 300 residents to the Wuhlheide forest for the annual spring cleaning in Schöneweide. Residents can also suggest collection points. Clean Up Trepnick has received several awards and the initiative is regularly featured in the press.

Why crowdfunding?

We are seeking financial support through this channel to be able to do even more, e.g. for:

• We build tactile games and create accompanying informational materials on topics such as waste, waste prevention, and alternatives, which we use, for example, at our information booths. Our existing games have been very well received, and we plan to expand them further and potentially offer them in multiple languages.

• The "Team Kippe" concept involves cigarette butt collection drives with a stand at locations such as train stations and market squares, featuring appropriate decorations, informative materials, and the distribution of specially made pocket ashtrays. We aim to raise awareness about the problem of harmful litter, encourage a change in thinking, and demonstrate simple solutions.

• As with all volunteer endeavors, there are ongoing costs for administration and organization. In our case, these include, for example: maintaining the website/email addresses, etc., providing refreshments on long/hot/cold event days, as well as small awards for particularly regular volunteers (in this case, for those who have participated 30, 50, or 100 times).
